Theory of Operation
The 330104-04-12-05-01-05 works on the physical principles of high-frequency eddy current induction. The 3300 XL Proximitor sensor drives an alternating radio frequency (RF) signal through the triaxial cable into a precision-wound coil housed inside the polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) probe tip. This coil projects an oscillating electromagnetic field into the surrounding workspace. When an observed conductive surface, such as an AISI 4140 steel shaft target, enters this field, localized eddy currents are generated across the metal's face. The physical distance change between the tip and target dynamically alters the impedance of the RF loop. The Proximitor sensor continuously tracks these impedance shifts and translates them into a linear DC voltage output directly proportional to the physical gap, enabling accurate monitoring of dynamic machinery vibration and static displacement.
