Q1: Why must a 5.0-meter probe connect directly to a 5-meter Proximitor sensor without an extension cable?
A: The total calibrated electrical length of the proximity transducer system must match the Proximitor sensor's configuration. Since this probe has an integral 5.0-meter cable length, adding any extension cable would cause severe tuning mismatch, distortion of the calibration curve, and massive scale factor errors.
Q2: What is the benefit of the FluidLoc option (-11) and can I use silicone tape over it inside the machine?
A: The FluidLoc cable prevents oil and other process liquids from leaking out of the machine housing through the internal spaces of the cable jacket. While self-fusing silicone tape is provided for connector isolation, it is explicitly not recommended for use inside the machinery casing where it would be exposed to harsh turbine oil washdowns.
Q3: What torque values should be used when installing this standard forward-mounted armored probe?
A: For standard forward-mounted probes, the recommended installation torque is 11.2 N·m (100 in·lbf). However, if you are engaging only the first three threads of the casing bracket, the torque must be limited to a recommended 7.5 N·m (66 in·lbf) to prevent physical thread striping or structural housing deformation.
