The MIV II 3000 combines phase overvoltage and undervoltage, ground overvoltage, voltage-unbalance and overfrequency or underfrequency protection in one drawout relay. The voltage functions use independent definite-time elements, while the two frequency elements can be configured for overfrequency or underfrequency supervision.
| ANSI function | Role in the MIV II 3000 |
|---|---|
| 27P / 59P | Phase undervoltage and overvoltage protection |
| 59N | Measured or calculated ground overvoltage protection |
| 47 | Voltage-unbalance function using negative-sequence voltage |
| 81O / 81U | Two independently supervised frequency elements |
| 52 | Circuit-breaker open and close control through configured I/O |
The relay records up to 24 events with time tags to the nearest millisecond. MIV II 3000 oscillography stores one 24-cycle record at eight samples per power-frequency cycle, with triggering from protection pickup or operation, configured digital input, self-test events or a communications command.
A 2 × 16-character LCD, five-key front keypad and six status LEDs support local interrogation. Four LEDs, two inputs and four of the six outputs can be user configured. Remote access uses Modbus RTU through an isolated front RS232 port or the rear RS485 port at 300 to 19,200 bps.
| High-range supply limits | 88–300 Vdc; 88–264 Vac, 48–62 Hz |
| Maximum power consumption | 15 W |
| Output relays | Six electromechanical Form-C relays; four configurable plus trip and service/alarm functions |
| Mechanical format | 304 stainless-steel housing, one quarter of a 19-inch rack, 4U high |
| Protection degree | IP52 |
| Net weight | Approximately 2.7 kg |
| Operating temperature | −20 °C to +60 °C |
| Storage temperature | −40 °C to +80 °C |
| Humidity | Up to 95%, non-condensing |
Suitable functions include voltage and frequency protection in automatic transfer systems, generators, motors, power lines and busbars. Selection must consider the installed VT arrangement, voltage range, control-power source, I/O assignment and the existing protection philosophy.
Is this an active-production relay?
The MIV II is listed by GE Vernova as a legacy product with manufacturing discontinued. Availability is therefore confirmed against current stock.
What information should accompany an inquiry?
Provide the full order code, quantity, front and side nameplate photos, firmware revision, supply voltage, VT arrangement and required delivery location.
Can a different MIV II suffix be substituted?
Only after verifying protection model, voltage range, language, control-power range, coating option, case compatibility and the existing wiring assignment.
| Stage | What we confirm |
|---|---|
| 1. Identity gate | MIVII3000E00HI00 order code, nameplate, firmware, quantity and required delivery date. |
| 2. Application gate | Protection model, voltage range, control power, VT connection, I/O mapping and communication requirements. |
| 3. Condition gate | Brand-new condition, visible housing and terminal inspection, label review and accessory scope. |
| 4. Commercial gate | Stock status, price, payment, shipment method and written warranty terms stated in the quotation. |
| 5. Dispatch gate | Anti-static protection, terminal and display protection, shock-resistant packing, export documents and tracking. |
Condition: Brand-new unit. Warranty: 12 months under written quotation terms. The quoted scope identifies the relay, included accessories and any limitations that apply to a legacy product.
Report any discrepancy promptly with package photos, relay photos, nameplate, serial number and a clear description of the issue. Returns require written authorization. The unit should remain in its protective packing until handling instructions are confirmed.
MIV II relays can share a similar appearance while differing in function, input range, power supply and options. Our review is based on the complete order code and the customer’s installed system, helping reduce suffix mismatch and avoidable commissioning delays.
A varied selection of established automation, protection and control references. Confirm manufacturer, complete suffix, revision and system compatibility before ordering.
