Comparison of 5 mm and 8 mm 3300-Series Probes
The 3300-series 5 mm probe, as detailed in Document 141605, features a smaller physical design but does not reduce side view clearances or tip-to-tip spacing compared to an 8 mm probe. It is specifically intended for applications where physical constraints prevent the use of a larger 8 mm probe. For situations that require narrow side view probes, the recommended solution is the 3300 NSv Proximity Transducer System, referenced in Document 147385. In contrast, 8 mm probes provide a thicker encapsulation of the probe coil within the molded PPS plastic tip, offering enhanced durability and ruggedness. The larger diameter of the 8 mm probe body also contributes to a stronger, more robust case, making it better able to withstand physical abuse and harsh industrial conditions. Whenever possible, the use of 8 mm probes is recommended to ensure optimal mechanical strength, long-term reliability, and protection against environmental and operational stresses in demanding industrial monitoring applications.
