Proximity Probe Design and Durability

The 3300-series 5 mm probe offers a compact physical design, making it suitable for applications where space constraints prevent the use of an 8 mm probe. Despite its smaller packaging, it maintains the same side view clearances and tip-to-tip spacing requirements as an 8 mm probe. For installations requiring narrow side view configurations, the 3300 NSv Proximity Transducer System is recommended, providing precision measurement in restricted spaces without compromising performance. The 8 mm probes, in contrast, feature a thicker encapsulation of the probe coil within molded PPS plastic, resulting in a more rugged and durable probe. The increased diameter of the probe body further enhances its structural integrity, offering superior resistance to physical abuse. Each 3300 XL extension cable includes silicone tape, which can be used in place of connector protectors for additional protection. However, silicone tape is not recommended in environments exposed to turbine oil, ensuring optimal reliability and longevity of the system.
