Modbus Slave Communication Function in ProSafe-RS
The ProSafe-RS system supports a Modbus slave communication function, enabling the Safety Control System (SCS) to operate as a Modbus slave and communicate with an external Modbus master from a different system. Configuration details such as communication module definitions, Modbus device addresses, and SCS data mapping are downloaded via the Safety Engineering Station (SENG). When the external Modbus master sends data, the SCS CPU receives it through its Ethernet communication module and responds with the appropriate message using the Modbus slave function. In case of communication errors or Ethernet module faults, the SCS maintenance support tool displays error information and alerts through the status display. The network can be configured in a dual-redundant setup by establishing separate transmission paths for every two Ethernet communication modules mounted on the SCS, ensuring reliable and continuous communication with the Modbus master.
