MTL4544 Functional Description

The MTL 4544 EATON Repeater Power Supply provides fully-floating DC supplies for powering two conventional 2-wire or 3-wire 4/20mA or HART transmitters located in hazardous areas. It repeats the current in other circuits to drive two safe-area loads, ensuring reliable signal transmission and system performance.

For smart transmitters, the MTL4544 REPEATER POWER SUPPLY EATON allows bi-directional transmission of digital communication signals superimposed on the 4/20mA loop current. Alternatively, the Transmitter Repeater MTL 4544 EATON version acts as a current sink for safe-area connections instead of driving current into the load, providing flexibility for various application requirements.

The EATON MTL4544 is suitable for installation in Zone 0, IIC, T4–6 hazardous areas when properly certified, and in Div. 1, Group A hazardous locations. Its safe-area output supports signal ranges from 4 to 20mA, with under/over-range capability of 0 to 24mA.

The module can handle safe-area load resistances up to 450Ω at 20mA and 360Ω at 24mA. The EATON Repeater Power Supply MTL 4544 offers maximum voltage sourcing of 24V DC and safe-area circuit output resistance greater than 1MΩ, delivering reliable and precise operation for industrial automation and process control applications.
