1771-P5 Functional Description
The 1771-P5 Allen Bradley DC Power Supply Module is a reliable 5V DC power supply module designed for use in double 1771 I/O chassis, providing stable power to PLC systems. ALLEN BRADLEY 1771-P5 operates within an input voltage range of 20.5 to 30V DC and delivers an output voltage of 5.06V DC with an output current up to 8A, ensuring consistent performance for industrial automation applications.
This ALLEN BRADLEY 1771-P5 24V DC Power Supply features circuit isolation tested at 1500V AC (RMS) or 2160V DC for one second between input and chassis ground, enhancing safety and protecting connected components. It also includes a 5A, 32V normal blow fuse for circuit protection and has an adjustable power loss delay time of 13.6ms or 60ms between input loss and processor disable.
The 24V DC Power Supply Allen Bradley 1771-P5 can be connected in parallel with another 1771-P5 module using a 1771-CT parallel connection cable, and it is keyed to the backplane using a keying band shipped with the module. Its compact and robust design allows operation within a temperature range of 0 to 60°C without de-rating and withstands relative humidity from 5% to 95% without condensation.
UL and CSA/H-certified, the POWER SUPPLY MODULE ROCKWELL 1771-P5 offers reliable performance under demanding industrial conditions. Weighing approximately 1.18 kg, this module provides efficient 5V power supply and durable operation, making it an ideal choice for PLC systems requiring dependable, stable power delivery.

Paralleling Allen-Bradley 1771 Power Supply Modules
The Allen-Bradley 1771 power supply modules are designed to operate in parallel with compatible units to support PLC and processor systems. Specifically, the 1771-P5 and P5E modules can only be paralleled with another 1771-P5, while other modules such as the 1771-P3, P4, or processor models like 1772-LSP, LWP, or LXP can also be used in parallel arrangements. It is important to note that paralleling two modules, even with different power sources, does not provide redundancy. To properly parallel two modules, ensure that the power switches on both units are turned off before making any connections. The modules are connected using a 1771-CT paralleling cable, which links the P/S Parallel ports of both power supplies. Care should be taken to route the cable around the top of the I/O chassis to prevent induced voltages, ensuring safe and reliable parallel operation.
