Run Mode
Run Mode is the operational state in which a variable speed drive actively controls the connected motor, supplying power at the specified frequency and voltage to achieve the desired speed and torque. In this mode, the drive executes the control logic based on the active reference sources and configured operating parameters, translating command signals into precise motor performance. Modern drives offer multiple run command sources including digital inputs, communication networks, or the drive's own keypad, with priority often determined by the control configuration. During run mode, comprehensive real-time monitoring occurs, tracking critical operational data such as output current, motor speed, torque percentage, and power consumption. Protective functions remain fully active, continuously checking for fault conditions like overloads, short circuits, or overheating. The transition to run mode typically follows a controlled acceleration ramp, while the drive maintains regulation according to the selected control strategy, whether scalar (V/f), sensorless vector, or closed-loop vector control, ensuring optimal motor performance across the entire speed range.
