ILX56-MM Description

The Communications Interface Module ILX56-MM Prosoft is a high-performance Message Manager designed for industrial communication, specifically developed for devices supporting the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platform. It enables efficient data exchange between ControlLogix I/O-compatible processors and other protocol-compatible modules, ensuring seamless integration across diverse industrial systems.

Operating on 5 Volts DC with a current draw of up to 1 Amp, the Prosoft ILX56-MM Module uses its two Ethernet ports to transfer messages between different systems, providing reliable connectivity between Rockwell Automation systems and devices from other manufacturers, such as Siemens or Schneider Electric.

The ILX56-MM Prosoft ControlLogix I/O compatible processors can be installed directly in the same chassis as a ControlLogix PAC, allowing data transfer across the backplane. This capability enables the ILX56-MM Prosoft communication module to bridge communications between Rockwell Automation modules and other protocols effectively, simplifying system integration and configuration.

For installation, the Prosoft ILX56-MM Communications Interface Module includes a setup jumper labeled J1, and it supports hot-swapping, allowing insertion or removal while chassis power is applied. Battery Life Advisory

This module uses a Lithium Vanadium Pentoxide battery to back up the date/time settings of the real-time clock and the BIOS settings in CMOS. The battery recharges whenever the module is receiving power and should not need to be replaced for the life of the module. The module must be powered for approximately twenty hours before the battery becomes fully charged.

If the module is left in an unpowered state for approximately 21 or more days, the battery will be completely drained, and the module BIOS, date, and time will revert to their default settings. Before removing a module from its power source, ensure the battery is fully charged. You can confirm the battery is fully charged when the Battery State (ERR) LED is OFF.
