3300-series 5 mm and 8 mm System
When mixing XL and non-XL 3300-series 5 mm and 8 mm system components, the overall system performance will be limited to the specifications of the non-XL 3300 transducer system. This compatibility feature ensures that integrated systems remain operational but does not extend the enhanced performance characteristics of the XL series to the entire assembly. While probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors maintain electrical and mechanical interoperability, the system will default to the lower performance thresholds of the non-XL components in terms of temperature stability, accuracy, and linear range. This design approach prioritizes backward compatibility and field flexibility over optimized performance, allowing users to leverage existing inventory while gradually upgrading to full XL systems. However, for applications requiring the full capabilities of the 3300 XL series—particularly those demanding API 670 compliance—using exclusively XL components is essential to achieve specified performance levels and maintain certification standards.
