1771-OB Functional Description
The Input Module 1771-OB Allen-Bradley is a robust DC output module designed for the PLC-5 control system, delivering high-current control for demanding industrial devices. It provides eight independent output points, each capable of handling up to 1.5 amps, making the Allen-Bradley Digital DC Output Driver Module 1771-OB ideal for directly driving DC motor starters, solenoids, and high-power indicators.
A significant advantage is its high current capacity per point, which allows it to interface directly with powerful actuators without requiring intermediate relays.
This PLC-5 SERIES 1771-OB Allen Bradley receives its control power efficiently through the 1771 I/O chassis backplane, simplifying system wiring and integration. The design of the AB 1771-OB 1771 I/O chassis backplane ensures reliable operation with a low on-state voltage drop, maximizing the power delivered to the connected load.
For installation and maintenance, the PLC-5 SERIES 1771-OB Allen Bradley features status indicators for troubleshooting and requires specific electrostatic discharge precautions during handling to protect its internal circuitry. Its robust construction supports operation across a wide temperature range, ensuring performance in harsh industrial environments.

DC Output Driver Module
To ensure the performance and lifespan of the Allen-Bradley 1771-OB module, its electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection requirements must be strictly adhered to. The module is shipped in an anti-ESD shielded bag, which is the first critical barrier against ESD damage. Before handling the module, operators must always wear a reliable grounding wristband and thoroughly discharge static electricity from their bodies by touching a grounded metal surface.
The working environment should be kept at an appropriate humidity level, and an anti-ESD workbench should be used whenever possible. When handling the module, avoid direct contact with sensitive parts such as the edges of its circuit board and connector pins. Never place an unprotected module on ordinary plastic or insulating surfaces.
Even when the module is mounted on the 1771 I/O baseboard, it may still be susceptible to ESD threats when not powered on. Following these stringent protection procedures significantly reduces the risk of potential performance degradation or permanent damage due to ESD, ensuring the stable operation of industrial control systems.
