Harmonic Attenuation Module (HAM) Technology and Operation
The Harmonic Attenuation Module (HAM) integrates a full-wave rectifier, zero-current-switching (ZCS) boost converter, and advanced control circuitry to deliver high-efficiency power conditioning. The system rectifies AC input and uses an adaptive boost converter to maintain output voltage above the peak line voltage while ensuring input current aligns with the voltage waveform, achieving exceptional power factor correction (>0.99). An intelligent control scheme optimizes efficiency across varying line voltages by dynamically adjusting the boost converter's operating frequency. The HAM's output voltage scales with input voltage—from 260VDC at 120VAC to approximately 350VDC at 220VAC—maintaining sufficient headroom for effective power factor correction without compromising efficiency. The HAMD variant excludes the internal rectifier for higher-power array configurations when paired with VI-BAMD Boosters, offering flexibility for scalable power solutions. This technology combines active inrush current limiting and short-circuit protection to ensure reliable performance in demanding electrical environments.
