I/O Link Cable
The I/O Link Cable is a standardized point-to-point serial communication cable designed specifically for industrial automation applications. It serves as a critical link between I/O Link master devices and sensors or actuators, enabling bidirectional data exchange beyond simple signal transmission. This cable allows not only the transfer of process values but also the configuration, parameterization, and diagnostic information of connected devices. Built to meet IEC 60947 and related industrial standards, it ensures reliable performance in noisy factory environments where electromagnetic interference is common.
Typically featuring M5, M8, or M12 connectors with 3 or 4 pins, the I/O Link Cable is designed for easy integration and robust connectivity. Its shielded construction minimizes signal degradation and protects against electrical noise, while the durable outer jacket offers resistance to oils, chemicals, and mechanical abrasion. The cable supports communication distances of up to 20 meters without signal repeaters, making it suitable for a wide range of layout configurations in automated systems.
Widely used in assembly lines, robotic cells, and packaging machinery, the I/O Link Cable simplifies wiring, reduces installation time, and enhances system diagnostics. It plays a key role in implementing Industry 4.0 and IIoT strategies by providing device-level data transparency and facilitating predictive maintenance. With its plug-and-play functionality and growing adoption across automation platforms, this cable has become an essential component in modern smart manufacturing environments.
