Eddy Current Sensor
An eddy current sensor is a highly versatile non-contact measurement device, primarily used for detecting displacement, vibration, and position in industrial applications. It operates based on electromagnetic induction; when its coil is energized with alternating current, it generates a magnetic field. If a conductive target enters this field, eddy currents are induced on its surface. The sensor detects changes in these currents, which correlate precisely to the distance between the sensor and the target. This principle allows for accurate, high-resolution measurements of parameters like metal thickness, vibration in rotating machinery, and even material properties, making it invaluable for condition monitoring, precision control, and predictive maintenance in demanding environments.
