Application Considerations for Velomitor Piezo-Velocity Sensors in Machine Protection
Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensors provide robust, solid-state measurement of absolute casing vibration, offering installation flexibility and superior longevity. However, their effectiveness for overall machine protection is contingent on the machine's dynamics. The bearing housing must faithfully transmit significant rotor vibration, originating from faults like imbalance, to the transducer's mounting location. Furthermore, improper physical installation can severely degrade signal accuracy, leading to non-representative data. Extreme caution is advised if integrating the velocity output to displacement, as this can amplify errors and potentially provide misleading diagnostic information, compromising the reliability of the machinery protection system.
