1746-P1 Functional Description
The Allen-Bradley 1746-P1 POWER SUPPLY MODULE is a rack-mounted power supply module essential for operating SLC 500 control systems. It features a wide input voltage range, accepting 85-132 VAC or 170-265 VAC, which provides significant flexibility for various industrial power environments.
This dual-range capability is a key feature of the POWER SUPPLY MODULE Allen-Bradley 1746-P1, allowing it to adapt to different electrical infrastructures without requiring hardware modifications.
A primary function of the 1746-P1 AB SLC Rack Mounting Power Supply is to deliver stable DC power to the backplane, supplying 2A at 5VDC for the processor and other modules in the chassis. Additionally, it provides a 24VDC user-power output for peripherals like sensors. The design ensures system reliability through features like a built-in hold-up time, allowing the controller to operate briefly during power dips.
Installation of the SLC 500 controllers 1746-P1 ROCKWELL requires careful attention, as the input voltage jumper must be correctly set before applying power to avoid damage. It is always installed in the leftmost slot of the chassis. The robust construction of the Allen-Bradley 1746-P1 In Stock supports operation in industrial temperatures up to 60°C, ensuring consistent performance in demanding conditions. Its integrated protection safeguards the entire system from potential electrical faults.

Power Supply Undervoltage Operation
SLC 500 controllers continue to operate (hold-up) for a short period of time if the input voltage to the power supply drops below the recommended operating
voltage range. The controller continues to scan the user program and control I/O during this time. CPU hold-up for each power supply is shown on pages 14 and 16.
SLC 500 controllers turn OFF (stop scanning and disable outputs) if input voltage to the power supply is removed or drops below the recommended operating range
for a period exceeding the CPU hold-up time. The controller resumes operation automatically when the input voltage is restored to normal. If the input voltage to the
1746-P7 power supply falls into a range of 4 to 9V for a period exceeding the CPU hold-up time, the controller turns OFF and will not turn back ON until input voltage
is increased to 11V dc.
