Controller Configuration
The PM866 controller is selected from the AC800M controller family with processor speeds up to 10Mbps and additional Random Access Memory (RAM) dedicated to each controller application.
The controllers are redundant for every software application, that is, the primary controller runs the process with the backup controller on standby to take over in the event of a failure. Figure 2 provides an example of a typical controller and I/O card configuration. If utilizing ABB in a skid based configuration, the PM856, non-redundant controller can be used and connected redundantly to both control network paths.
1. Redundant AC800M controllers shall be implemented except when using a PM856 in a skid-based configuration.
2. Controllers shall be configured and installed with SB22 extended external battery modules which shall indicate a low battery charge locally and on the HMI as an alarm. (5.1.1)
3. Communication to the I/O modules shall be done with redundant, hot swappable Profibus master modules (CI854A). (5.1.1)
4. Redundant power supplies shall be used for each AC800M controller.
